Confusing Football Rules

There are professional couch coaches of football all across the United States. They can recognize a man-to-man defense and a zone defense. Regardless of how involved football fans are, there are some rules to the game that many people find confusing and frustrating; even the sportscasters calling the game often speak out against a referee ruling. The following are some of the most confusing rules in the National Football League.
The tuck rule
In the National Football League rule book, the tuck rule is explained as follows: "When a Team A player is holding the ball to pass it forward, any intentional forward movement of his hand starts a forward pass, even if the player loses possession of the ball as he is attempting to tuck it back towards his body. Also, if the player has tucked the ball into his body and then loses possession, it is a fumble." This is very confusing as the translation of this rule can mean that the passer can almost make any movement with his arm and have it ruled potentially a fumble.
The eligible receivers
The question of eligible receivers often arises when the ball is near a goal line. Many people want to know why everyone on the football field is not an eligible receiver and why, when another guard or tackle comes in to replace the previous guard or tackle, an announcement is made to declare that player's eligibility as a receiver. Everyone on the field is meant to protect the ball, so having an eligible receiver rule just seems contradictory to the game.
Americans love football, but the ability to follow the game has definitely increased in difficulty over the years. Watching plenty of games and learning the rules is the best way to understand the referee's calls on Sunday.
